Powerful Search, Comparison, Export, and Link Features
Designed for Internet Explorer 4.0 and higher, the Datasource is packed with powerful features that enable users to view, compare, save, and export information on virtually any printer or digital copier.
Product comparison allows easy comparison of two printers' product specifications, selecting from more than 75 fields covering the engine and controller, paper-handling features, service, marketing, price history, and supplies.
Custom export capabilities allow users to export selected information to business applications, such as Microsoft Excel®. Business and product planners can build competitive pricing models, assess current players/product lines, and review market activities.
Supplies product links allow users to match any available OEM supply item to a specific printer or digital copier and to find all machines compatible with that supply. Aftermarket supplies, including media, cartridges, and other components, can also be referenced and exported.
Eight Linked Modules
The Datasource is made up of the following linked modules:
- Printer and Copier Specifications: detailed specifications and marketing information for major computer printers and copiers currently distributed in the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom and for many discontinued U.S. products, dating back to 1991;
- Supplies Specifications: a database that links details of thousands of OEM ink jet/laser cartridge, ribbon, and media products to their respective OEM printer and copier models and that includes numerous aftermarket products;
- Article Abstracts: a massive bibliography summarizing trade and consumer press coverage from more than 150 sources, including magazines, wire services, and industry newsletters. The article database can be searched for product reviews and product awards;
- Press Releases: thousands of product-related and corporate-level press releases, with full-text searching. Releases are categorized by keywords (company, product, date) to enable searching and sorting;
- Industry Updates: miscellaneous time-critical information organized by company in the following categories: contracts, distribution deals, product promotions, personnel changes, and rumors. Sources for these records include press releases issued by vendors, industry newsletters, magazines, wire services, and the Web;
- Related Product Specs: a catalog of controllers, fonts, RIPs, utility software, paper-handling accessories, protocol converters, and PDLs, along with other printer- and copier-related hardware, software, and connectivity products; and
- Corporate Information: reference including more than 2,500 printer, digital copier, supplies, and related firms, including a record for each relevant corporate geographical location. Reference data always includes the firm's main address and may include manufacturing sites, research facilities, and distribution and marketing centers.
Delivery
The Hard Copy Datasource is accessed via the Web with a username and password. An annual subscription service is offered on a site-license basis for your entire workgroup.
