Every day, millions of Indians rely on digital platforms for their payments. Yet in a fast-evolving technological world, awareness and education are key to staying protected. That’s why Lyra took an active part in Digital Payment Awareness Week (DPAW), held from March 10 to 16, 2025. The event was organized under the theme “India Pays Digitally” by the mission #HarPaymentDigital.
Here’s a look back at a week dedicated to awareness, action, and impact.
A National Movement for Safer Payments
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched DPAW to educate citizens on secure digital payment practices — from preventing fraud to building trust in digital transactions. The initiative focuses especially on young users, local vendors, and individuals who are less familiar with banking systems or digital tools.
Lyra Employees Become Digital Payment Mitras
At Lyra, the campaign began from within. Employees were trained to become Digital Payment Mitras (DPM) ambassadors of secure digital payments. Internal knowledge-sharing sessions were organized to equip the teams with practical tips and tools to protect themselves and others from fraud.
A special internal podcast featuring Bollywood actress Aman Sandhu further energized the initiative. It encouraged Lyra employees to become active advocates of digital literacy.
On Campus: Engaging the Next Generation
Recognizing the vital role of Gen Z in shaping India’s digital future, Lyra conducted sessions at key universities in Mumbai, including ACE, SPIT, and M.K.E.S.
These interactive events encouraged students to become Digital Payment Mitras and share what they learned with family and peers. The discussions covered a range of topics — from identifying digital scams to the future of blockchain and cryptocurrency.
Reaching Local Vendors: Ground-Level Impact
A major focus of the week was to reach out to street vendors and micro-entrepreneurs — those most vulnerable to digital fraud due to limited literacy or banking access. Lyra volunteers pledged to educate hundreds of stall owners on the basics of safe UPI usage, how to recognize scams, and how to protect their earnings.
This grassroots initiative is a step toward building trust and resilience in the informal economy.
UPI Goes Global : From India to the Eiffel Tower
This year’s DPAW also highlighted the global rise of Indian fintech. UPI has expanded globally, with landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in Paris now accepting digital payments. Lyra is proud to support this international expansion, continuing to promote real-time, inclusive, and secure payment solutions for emerging markets.
Amplifying the Message Through Social Media
Throughout the week, Lyra shared updates and stories on social media using the hashtags #DPAW2025, #HarPaymentDigital, and #IndiaPaysDigitally. The campaign helped spark conversations and encouraged others to join the digital payment movement.
More Than a Week : A Long-Term Mission
For Lyra, Digital Payment Awareness Week is not just a once-a-year campaign. It’s a long-term commitment to fostering digital confidence, educating communities, and helping shape a secure digital economy — one user at a time.
